St. Clair Shores Celebrates 25 Years!

The City of St. Clair Shores Department of Public Works and Community Development and Inspection Department were recently awarded their 25th Tree City USA Award and Designation. The City met the requirements of the Tree City USA award by having and maintaining the following:

1)      A Forestry Department that is responsibility for the care of public trees.

2)      An Ordinance that establishes policies for tree planting, maintenance, and removal.

3)      An Annual Budget for administering, managing, and implementing the community forestry program.

The City also celebrates Arbor Day. This year we will be celebrating on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Violet Elementary at 10:00 AM. Department of Public Works employees will be helping 75 first grade students plant 4 trees at the school.

Arbor Day is the celebration of trees and their importance in our lives; it is also a time to think about what we can do for trees and the world in which we live. Healthy natural resources are vital to environmental quality and quality of life. Trees are in our backyards, neighborhoods, cities, farms and forests; they connect us to our past and to our future.
